Every Cot Bed Needs a removable, waterproof cot bed mattress protector. During the night babies produce moisture, whether from perspiration, dribbling, being sick or as a result of a leaking nappy.

Without this protector, the moisture soaks into the mattress. Not only does this create marks and stains on the mattress itself but it also encourages the growth of mould, fungi and bacteria, both on and inside the mattress, which is not healthy for the baby.

Even a waterproof, wipe down mattress, cannot offer this level of protection as it can only be wiped down rather than machine washed and then there is no way of knowing that is clean enough.

This protector also forms a dust mite barrier to stop dust mites and their waste products from reaching the baby. Dust Mites are known to be responsible for the onset of asthma and eczema in young children as well as a source of allergic reactions including, coughing, sneezing, wheezing, red eyes and runny noses. Dust Mites require moisture, bacteria and skin particles to survive. This protector prevents all three from getting into the mattress.

The upper surface is a soft, cotton rich terry with a breathable, waterproof polyurethane membrane on the underside. Polyurethane is breathable and quiet in use and does not affect the body temperature, meaning that it is virtually undetectable in use.

This one measures 70cm x 140cm and fits a standard cot bed mattress. The protector is supplied in a fitted sheet style for ease of removal and refitting.
